Surprisingly mediocre, borderline disappointed.
This is one of those novels where you just keep reading for the hell of it. The storyline is seriously outworldly but in a bad way. This book is as far fetched from reality as you can get considering the events of the night. You don't feel a part of the world in which the characters are set.
What surprised me most was how poorly the characters were modelled. They jump from happiness to sadness throughout the night like flipping burgers. I'm totally confused about how a person can be crying about sleeping their way top to making fun and laughing about wedding plans ...within minutes.
And what's the deal with Vroom? I've never hated a character more. One minute he is throwing a tantrum about Americans and going haywire with his anger, next minute he is having fun downing drinks.
And let's not even talk about how they got to reduce downsizing. I personally could have written something more interesting.
The way the characters are written is such a drag and the most irritating part of the book personally. If the author could have refrained from making the characters jump emotions at every page, the story could be more believable. And as you read the more you understand how detached from Indian society some elements of the book are.
So all in all, the story is clear but the book is confusing. If that makes any sense. Very poor character development. It felt like reading a story I wrote and trust me, that's not a compliment.
