Saw this overhyped movie last night and had to post my mind out. To begin with, I would highly discourage you from watching this “highly-marketed with paid reviews” movie for so many reasons. I CANNOT laud a movie that is soo inappropriate towards our women/young girls. Following are some actual scenes from the movie - 1) Our Hero keeps pinching a random girl on her naval again and again followed by laughter with his friends that she cannot tell anyone about the place she was pinched at. This was further coupled with double-meaning joke from girl’s father saying “what u did with my daughter, i really appreciate and i do the same”. How on earth can this be funny?
2) Our “Hero” keeps smoking beedi, having desi daru and chewing tobacco (with red teeth) thru out the movie. When he gets close to the girl, she complains about beedi ka smell from his mouth. To which he says “ab itna to jhel le na” and flags off her chunni. How do you expect us to normalise these scenes and actions?
I don’t claim to be a critic or a feminist, but these scenes are normalising a very bad psyche towards our women.
Madam finance minister, your government supports “cancer from tobacco” ads at the beginning and during intervals and then you promote such movies. What kind of example are you trying to set?
Yours truly,
One highly disappointed but true nation-loving citizen of your country.
PS - pls pardon any grammatical errors.
