I chose this based on positive reviews. For me, it is one of the least enjoyable reads of the year. Flat characters , stilted dialogue throughout, simple and repetitive plot line. I felt that the issues of gender, sexual preference, poverty and the immigrant experience were clumsily inserted into the story line - as if they were only topic boxes needing a check mark and included to salvage a bit of plot relevance Didn’t work at all! Pass on this one!
