One of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. Superb acting, brilliant directing, and amazing cinematography. Every sound, every word, every gaze has meaning. Set in the 18th century, each scene presents a visual representation reminiscent of individual, yet continuous, paintings. Importantly, the chemistry between the two female leads is palpable. The fire is more than one sceen; the various representations of fire parallel the burn between them. There is minimal dialogue, which enhances the significance of what is said. All expressions are poignant and relevant. This film is a work of art.
