Leaving the plot unanswered is okay, but there were a thousand loose ends here. Other than the scene at the abandoned house everything felt needlessly unexplained for the “mY aRtiStiC ViSioN” factor. I still don’t know who what where when or why. Like, what the f was that thing in the girlfriends neck? Never explained. Why were they being held? What was the aliens goal? If it’s really just to create a human/robot hybrid then why’d they have to lie to them and make a whole world simulation and fake their breakouts? Why not just put them in the sim world immediately to test them for longer? Never explained. Who were the other people and why were they there? Never explained. And why was it simulated as Area 51? No reason, just that the creator likes Area 51 conspiracies. Clearly doesn’t like finishing his work though. Just throws in a bunch of nonsense and makes the audience fill in the holes. It’s an extremely slow movie with very little pay off. Don’t waste your time.
