I'm an aspiring filmmaker from South Africa and here in South Africa we have an actor and comedian called Leon Schuster who despite recent allegations of racism for using black face on his hidden camera sketches, he has managed to top the South African film box office charts, with his same comedic consistency on his movies. Therefore, I refer to Leon as the Adam Sandler of South Africa. Now coming to Grown Ups 2, we all know the criteria of what Hollywood movie critics look for on a mainstream Hollywood movie, be it: "sex sells", "profanity or vulgar language in order to tickle some one's funny bone" etc. From the first time I watched Grown Ups 2 when it came out in 2013 and I still do have the DVD by the way. I just knew that it was going to get backlash from critics and people who get fed up with Adam Sandler's humour that most people claim him and his cast members laugh at their own jokes in most of his movies. I don't have anything against movies that get critical acclaim from Hollywood movie critics, because I know that we have been ingrained to the Hollywood movie system of how a great movie is supposed to be like. Therefore it's no surprise that Grown Ups 2 got this amount of back lash from the critics. Even Tyler Perry mentioned this on one of his stage plays from 2008 called Tyler Perry's: The Marriage Counsellor as he was making concluding remarks to his fans after the DVD recording of this stage play. The fact that when he's about to release a movie. The movie critics from Hollywood would tell him that his movie is about to make about however much ratings they would deem it would be and that is according to how they find the movie appealing to them. And then Tyler says, he would be really elated when these same people would start scratching their heads, when the movie exceeds their expectations in terms of box office success, because he claims that these people don't know how to count the people (that is the audience) as movie goers. So therefore Tyler says he would be very happy to see them being shocked with the success of his films in the box office. For the mere fact that Grown Ups 2 has over 200 K million dollars in the box office, over an 80 million dollar budget shows that the movie goers who these movies are made for, do get what Adam Sandler and his cast members and crew were trying to do in this movie.
