After watching a serious actor in Wonderful World, In this series, Gangnam Beauty (2018) , again, like in True Beuaty, the female lead is subjected to bullying because of her looks and had to submit to surgery. The storyline is so lacking in substance except for the standards set on how beauty is an issue in school. What bothered me most is "Mirae"s" conduct after the surgery. What was with her "dumb" look and insecurities when she's already considered and welcomed in school as "beautiful, yet acting as if something is looming behind her ready to throw a punch about the aesthetics done on her. And what is with her wearing short shorts and skirts in school! Her legs are not that remarkable to begin with, oh well, maybe because she's fair skinned and tall. Perusing closely, the rest of her so called "classmates" were appropriately dressed, so how could she get respect from the guys in scchool. Just saying. Finally after a week, I got to finish watching and it did not change my views on the plot, better than Eun-woo's series True Beauty (2020) where the story really failed to capture my interest because of some incredibly unbelievable issues about "looks" or "beauty". Frankly I did not finish the series - (a) how can a female lead end up with a horrible skin when her mom was suppose to own a beauty parlor, (b) the continuity error that's typical of Korean rom-com. In one scene, the acne was minimal but few minutes into anther scene, the lead actress face is so read with the acne almost popping out of her skin. "stupid stuff" I call them. So, enough with Eun Woo being a student - let's consider some serious acting from him, so, I will strongly recommended his latest drama "Wonderful World".
Spolier Review: Browsing through the net, I found old pictures of Im Soo-hyang and was not surprised to discover that she indeed had some "changes" made in her face. :)
