All that squandered potential. Great premise, fine acting, but a script that could have been written by two 19-year-old philosophy students reading Schopenhauer for the first time. The affection the town showed for this miserable old recluse was a deal breaker for me. It just wasn't credible. It's also getting to be tedious having to wade through all the paid-for or AI reviews on these sites. Here's one AI wrote for me under the prompt "Write a 20-word glowing review of a film": "A cinematic masterpiece that will leave you breathless and wanting more. A must-see!" Sound familiar?
