I found The Batman to be long without offering any relief. If you aren't already a Batman fan, I would not recommend.
The most prevalent comment you will hear about this movie is how long it is and how much of that is wasted time. The film IS too long. The worst thing is that it teases you with a false ending at 2 hours(when it SHOULD have ended!) I just find it long and too dark for a superhero movie. There was absolutely no comedy to this film, even with an appreciated number of side characters.
I'm not a Batman aficionado, but I didn't like Pattinson as Batman. It may just be because he is forever Edward from Twilight, but he seemed more like a moody teenager than a brooding vigilante.
However, there were two things that I really liked about this film. 1: The Riddler. I applaud Paul Dano bringing a completely different characterization of The Riddler to the screen. He takes a character previously played by Jim Carrey and almost hijacks the film into a reboot of Silence of the Lambs. Dano's performance was fantastic. The writers also made the character a little TOO scary with the ***SPOILERS*** internet network and plot to kill the mayor ***SPOILERS*** It almost got too real.
2. This would have made an excellent noir film. I thought this was (honestly) a bad superhero movie. But it is an excellent detective movie! Everything in this film could happen in real life. I appreciated the reality.
