Norwegian Wood follows the life of protagonist Toru Watanabe, a University student in Tokyo as he remembers his first love, Naoko.
Despite the somewhat basic premise, the novel explores many complex emotions such as love, depression, loneliness, dread and death. Murakami manages to convey these emotions and put it all on paper beautifully.
Heart wrenching, romantic, eye opening, and also the first book that’s ever left me inspired to leave a review.
