Whenever someone asks me about my favorite book of all time, I always repeat the same name again and again called “The Girl On The Train”. Usually, I select historical books based on true events but this debut novel by British author Paula Hawkins was much different and captivating.
The book name itself seems like one of the best psychological thrillers that came out in 2015. One of the character Rachel who can’t over her ex-husband, is an alcoholic. Rachel watches the couple breakfasting on the desk every time the train stops at the signal. She named them Jess and Jason in her own imaginary world. On the other hand, Megan whose life became the happiest person with her newborn baby and Rachel’s ex-husband Tom. The plot between Anna (aka) Jess and the all characters isn’t predictable as it seems?
Among every moment one striking feature about this book is; it is written in a first-person perspective with three different narrators, Megan, Rachel, and Anna. Initially, things might get a bit confused, but eventually, you will realize that all the characters are closely linked with each other. A theme and unreliable narrators which have been a huge support to the plot make us question ourselves at times of who is what, and whether everything is as it is. The flow carries all the way to the end and ended beautifully with the twist.
Since after reading it once, I couldn't keep this book away from myself till I finished. It builds the curiosity up in you like anything. If you like crime thrillers and love to tie the threads together this is just for you. The author takes you through the crime scene without you knowing it, you'll be in England and became Sherlock Homes trying to figure out what exactly has happened. This book unleashes many emotions, lies, feelings that's present in the world. In short, it is nothing less than a thriller which I loved a lot. I would recommend it to everyone over 11/12
