My kids would rather watch this than another mindless Super Hero movie. Coastal Kingdom is educational, fun, family-friendly, and free of the overdramatization and commercialism of the big network programs that deal with nature and environment topics. As a kid, I grew up watching Marty Stouffer and Jacques Cousteau, and I think Mr. Mills just reminds me of their no frills approach. He brings the nature to the viewer and makes you aware not only of the Low Country diversity, but nature in general.

Wow, this movie really went against recent trends! It actually turned out to be a 2 hour political sermon masquerading as a kids’ movie! Isn’t that so refreshing and different? If only more of today’s writers and directors adopted such a unique and austere approach to filmmaking! Then we wouldn’t have to deal with the banality of art for art’s sake! Instead, every movie could have subliminal political propaganda…or better yet, good old fashioned overt propaganda! Then we wouldn’t have to think for ourselves and we could all just think and believe what Hollywood tells us to think and believe! How come no one has thought of this yet??? Well, one can always hope and dream!!!
