My mother loved these narrative poems and would enthrall us as children growing up by reciting from memory a great portion of this and other of Robert Service's works. This was before television has taken us all by storm of course. But even after we got a TV, Mom's reading of Robert Service, Edgar Allen Poe, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Jack London continue to be of high interest to us kids for many years.
