I’ve beat bullet hell games and played tons of fromsoft games. Even platinumed a lot of them. I feel like the devs got too excited about Malenia or something from Elden Ring and decided to add a bunch of undodgeable combos in this game. In my opinion it’s not great game design. The bullet hell does way too much damage and it doesn’t feel fun with enemies flying off camera and suddenly shooting you on top of the head. I hate to say it, but I feel like this actually needs difficulty settings. I don’t get to play video games all day and I don’t want to spend hours beating one boss and replaying a mission to experiment with different builds. I don’t think it’s quite a one, because the graphics and art are cool and I can see the gameplay being fun, but it’s heavily gate kept behind this difficulty and the need to button mash my controller to death.
Edit: I managed to beat the game, then they came out with a nerf for Balteus haha. I appreciate FromSoftware reacting to feedback, but I still think they could benefit from difficulty settings. Not everyone is able to "git gud", whether they have the time for it, or potentially some sort of handicap. It's a simple fix. I don't even care if it just involves increasing the player's health or what. I'm changing this to a 4 as I really enjoy the gameplay and the art/world building. Just think this company could be more inclusive, without much effort. Or add co-op like Elden Ring/Souls/Bloodborne to have friends help others that are having a hard time with a boss.
