good show solid story but by God the characters are so goddamn stupid. Like actual idiots who continually self sabotage with absolutely no awareness of the plot. Decourcy is too educated to be as naive as he is, as is Benham. Jimmy is a genuine waste of space constantly putting himself and others in jeopardy. The wives of the main characters also get way too much screen time without contributing anything to the actual story, just them going through their own confrontations which are more than marginally smaller compared to the overall plot. It just seems to me like none of the characters actually are living up to their potential ability, and constantly has me saying, "Why would he/she/they do that?" And whenever something does go right its beyond predictable, in juxtaposition to the mishaps in the story being things that can be easily avoided. It feels like the writers use the smallest instances to try and create major conflicts in the story but that doesn't really work when there's a clear curve between the capability and intellect of most characters
