It tried to be deep I think, but did not succeed. Aside from everyone's comments about the lack of first aid kit, etc., the movie was slow and lacked a real point.

Didn't love the book as I was annoyed at the author having barely any experience hiking (as he admits himself) in order to take on this challenge, does it in bush fire season and then needs to be evacuated. It's giving "of course I could beat Serena Williams in a tennis match" type man. Would've given it 2 stars but when I left a short review on 'Goodreads' the author personally responded insulting me and claiming all I do is sit at home and leave bad reviews because he did not agree with my perspective. Not the type of person who should be an author in my opinion and will steer away from any of his other work. Glad I didn't spend money on the book and borrowed it from the library instead.

Chris is obnoxious and insufferable as a person (as portrayed by the actor). Can you imagine hanging out with a privileged white man who answers your questions in poetic quotes? My god the amount of times I rolled my eyes.
Is there anything worse than the person who relies on others living the life he himself cannot bear to lead, in order to live the life he wants to live?
The first 1.5hours are slow and boring. The last hour is a bit better. But my god, the superiority the character exudes because he thinks the rest of the world hasn't figured out capitalism sucks and he's somehow enlightened because he reads books by now dead white men. I hated the movie because of the main character but anything good about the filming/ directing was swallowed by this man's excruciating personality.

Great movie. Rarely am I on the edge of my seat but with this I was. Considering how much CGI there was, it was 95% well done. Background characters had the best acting overall. Would recommend

Geared towards teenage boys as it's quite cringey. Best part was when they show the kids father (who is clearly white) at 13 yrs old in the photograph and he has a semi-native appearance like the kid..... apparently he changed races.
