I feel this story, although not enraging, is rather very disappointing and boring. I will list my greatest issues with this show:
First, Boba Fett is made a far different character than how he was portrayed in the original trilogy. Of course, some development and change has to happen to the character. Mainly what I'm conflicted with here is his lack of mystery. He's become talkative and doesn't fit what the character is. Even physically, I feel the actor, although I love Temuera Morrison, doesn't fit the role. He's big, bulky, old, and doesn't seem to even fit his armor. He looks different, he talks different, he acts different, he has no mystery, and he doesn't feel as "bad a**" as he used to. The character development for such a beloved and speculated character has gone out the window.
Secondly, the show is boring. There is a great mix between filler and story - both can bring excitement. Too much significant story brings a lack of wonder and involvement in the details of a universe. Too much filler brings boring repetition with no real purpose. This show is filled with too much slow filler. The Mandalorian could be argued to have a little too much filler, although some such as myself may argue it has the perfect mixture. The Book of Boba Fett goes much further than The Mandalorian, and spends too much time on useless or repeated scenes. I was falling asleep every time the show repeated so many unnecessary scenes of Boba learning how to live with the Sand People. We understand that he got well through their care and learned their culture - move on.
Third, there are some aspects of the show that don't fit the setting, to a glaringly bothersome extent. Although there could be multiple things to mention, the glaring elephant in the room is the group of wacky colorful techno-kids, with goofy automated weapons and limbs, and bright tacky speeder bikes. This group of young tech-punks helps Boba throughout the story, but have no real place to be in the poor, dry, bleak desert of Tatooine, where every other citizen is in sand-filled robes and either struggling to make money, less they be sold to slavery, or are greasy dirty people that will sell others short just to make a quick buck. The characters don't fit into the overall tone of grittiness or seriousness present in the rest of the show. When I saw them introduced, I felt like I was watching Spy Kids in the middle of a Cowboy Western. This group of characters is not necessarily bad in itself - they could fit very well in Star Wars in the right setting, maybe the better parts of Coruscant or any other developed city planet? They solely don't belong in this show.
