I had to stop watching midway through the 8th episode. This series is so depraved it is impossible to watch and the plot is hugely recycled from other sci fi. ***plenty of spoilers ahead*** Apart from the totally unnecessary swearing, it's like the writers have taken a lego kit of all of western societies political agendas and chosen one from each bin and plonked a character on screen. One white rich entitled man, one trans sexual (I am assuming Zane as this has not been confirmed by episode 8 mid way through), poly amourous relationships, married homosexuals, vast amounts of cheating, obviously all the leaders are women, just waiting for the vegan really. It's all just too much and quite sickening to be honest. I wouldn't spend any time with people who swear continuously so why would i watch it? The plot line is definitely obscured by the "colourful" characterisation but the story lines and story sequence could have been ripped from Stargate Universe. Big ship out in space, tussle for leadership, mistrust of the ships AI, main leader is traumatised by past failings, mutiny, running out of resources, mining resources on an alien planet, infections from that planet, paracitical invasion which controls the host with a massive personality change which no one notices, so on and so on. I think the writers need to be aware that adult viewing does not mean people want to watch the normalisation of every type of depravity on screen, when what is really called for is compelling story telling. People who will watch continuous swearing will watch a no swearing programme if the writing is good enough, but the reverse in not true. Writers please stop this race to the bottom and spend your time on novel interpretation of space travel, which is why we came here.

I had not heard about this film previously so it was like finding a £20 in a jacket you haven't worn in ages. The cast is two people, the mad murderer guy out of Green Mile, and Kevin Spacey. Both play utterly convincing roles, the latter is quite remarkable and surprising as the trend of late is for machines to screw over humanity. In this film, surfice to say the machine is more human that the corporation that owns it. It has a nice twist, but i saw it coming a mile off, but this is quite normal for me and I think most people can enjoy the twist on the first watch. I would say the end sequence is not great, introducing new as yet un mentioned hardware laying around and unlikely sabotage. In conclusion I would say it is a great watch and you will end up hoping for the lead protagonists -Sam.
