This is a dark and gut wrenching journey not ment for children to be sure. At the end of the game you feel emotionally exhausted after becoming attached to all the characters (even the dog) and left in a state of contemplation as the end credits run. I believe the people that hate this game are the same type of people that don't like change and have a limited worldview in general.
The use of nonlinear storytelling and having you play from different and opposing points of view was very compelling as you get small bits of information that gradual unfold the big picture and force you to rethink your initial preconceptions.
The landscapes, textures, colors, sound design, music, voice acting, facial expressions, are as good as it gets and really pull you into the story.
The story unfolds at a slow pace, but I believe the time is used wisely to develop each of the many characters. By the end of the game you really feel close to them. If you want all action, this game may not be for you. This game build tension and when action happens it is intense. Due to this you are always on edge.
I loved this game and would highly recommend it. If you are open minded, like the unconventional and let this take you in, you will live it too.
