Adam Pittell – Google

It reminds me of a crumby, culturally deaf History Channel show mixed with a weak soap opera. The childlike dialog does not fit the calibur of performers. The casting feels completely disconnected from any Egyptian or Greek culture. A big miss. The music score was very strange to me as well. Again, it did not fit any Egyptian or Greek cultural sound, but rather had an American feel. Cleopatra is such an interesting historical figure, but the show itself is honestly unwatchable.

The Swordsman offers nothing unique. I really only enjoyed the characters Gyeom and Min. The opening was good, but unfortunately the movie drags on with filler/padding for far too long. There are a few good actors in the cast, however, weak editing and choreography really hurt the film and left me wanting more. I did not like the main villain. The first thing I noticed was the fact that he was not Korean or Chinese. This broke the immersion for me, making the political conflict they took the time to set up feel less legitimate. He constantly gives disappointing tongue clicks and bad guy smirks, leading to an overall generic and uninteresting performance. TL;DR Main villain gives generic performance. Editing and fight choreography are weak.

Rambling, incoherent, and poorly executed. 0/5 stars The author constantly contradicts himself, sometimes within a single page or paragraph. He does not appear to have a basic understanding of his own power/magic system, world, or plot. The mary-sue protagonist, Theresa, lacks personality and has 1-dimensional traits like "good, kind, smart, Christian girl". The book merely repeats these qualities incessantly rather than demonstrate them in a meanful or coherent way. Creationist ideas/thinking are prevalent and not subtle. The author goes after Atheists several times in what feels like a very personal, non-story-relevant manner. What little scientific and philosophical concepts are attempted, the author gets wrong. I get the impression that the author is struggling with some mental illness, and perhaps narcissism as well.

This movie is bad. Many people have already mentioned the multitude of plot holes, bad CGI, comical villain, bad dialog, and sub-par acting (everyone but Idris). Car crash/hostage scene was especially embarrassing and nonsensical. Luthor beating up a dozen prisoners but not being able to take the small, older villain, lame. The lead detective gives the worst performance of all in a certain mansion scene. The 5 seconds she put Luthor in the trunk left me scratching my head as well.

A movie that attempts to be artsy, but rambles on incoherently for over 2 hrs. The characters are not believable and lack chemistry. (Husband and wife seem more like familiar coworkers. The kids may as well be made of cardboard.) Plot points are hardly revisited or simply dumped as fast as they are introduced. Excusing all the things I found wrong with the film, it commits the worst cinema sin of all, it's boring...
