giving a nonchalant review. bare with me. this game doesnt deserve respect.
-nothing burger story. like. nothing impactful or "wow" happens in this game.
-choices mean NOTHING this time around (the game masks itself being determinant by having a relationship, which, on a side note, is the lamest easiest thing to do in a choice game)
-ep 3 is actually a bad mini rpg within a story game that adds nothing to the story, only pissing the player off because they want to do ANYTHING else
-power does not help in any way, and is a cheap puzzle mechanic - completely unrelated to alex's character or the story ; this isn't even a situation where it's tolerable not to have a power, like in BTS or LiS2, it just actively pisses you off because you arent doing anything but hearing random side characters dumb thoughts that mean nothing
-also ep2-4 can be skipped and summed in about 10 minutes of cutscenes
-alex is annoying and cringe but not like max's writing because its not dated
-bad voice acting and lines. like. seriously. what the hell happened? i know its deck nine and being lousy with voice actors & writing conversation (Before the Storm suffered this issue) but good grief
-you learn nothing from the game, no morals, no themes, no thought provocation
-final decision is bad (see point #2)
i hate life is strange: true colors and it is a massive step back in the series. i understand that deck nine isnt dontnod and arent going to bring the lighting in a bottle games that are the core series (1 & 2), but i thought Before the Storm was a really cute love story with undertones about betrayal/romantic issues, parental discourse, and learning about yourself. Make no mistake- Before the Storm had it's issues, but True Colors is a disgrace.
