This movie was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The acting, characters, and casting were well done and the visual FX artists deserve a raise. I could tell the director put a lot of personal effort and heart into the movie.
HOWEVER, to be clear, I've never read any Dune books and haven't seen anything that was previously released about this universe. And, was it not for my brother mentioning how dense and incomplete the lore and explanation of things within the movie were, I would have been VERY lost. I was able to watch a few videos on Youtube that explained the houses and the general synopsis on why the main character and the supporting characters were so important. Without watching those videos before seeing this movie, I would have been VERY confused during it's entire runtime. I mean, as far as I could tell, Paul was just someone who was seeing the future, but VERY bad at it. We would see one thing, and then another version of that with changes, and this would happen over several scenes dealing with several situations. But, it was never explained WHY this was happening or really, WHAT exactly made this matter to us.
