I did not like the film because of two sets of reasons, scientific and production. There are simply too many scientific loopholes - one or two can be overlooked (it is a film afer all) but not these many. A new undiscovered moon of Jupiter, that just happens to be suitable for life? Communications blackouts within the solar system? Random meteor showers? "Mapping" space? And what are the two survivors going to do (zero genetic diversity). As for the film itself, it is needlessly slow, with plenty of unnecessary scenes that contribute nothing to the plot. Looong dragged out sequences, can't really empathize with the characters, the earth disaster is never explained - what can knock out an entire planet except two people in the Arctic?
