A XL size potential overrun by an arduous and tiresome plot.
Ali’s ambitious Bharat fails to live up to the expectations. The direction was not up to mark and could not do justice to a movie of this scale. The direction seriously lacks and sometimes it even lacked originality. The scene where Bharat and co were fighting a pirate boat was taken straight out of Captain Phillips.
The makeup was also disappointing. When Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are shown to be around 70, only their hair has turned white, not their skin hasn’t become a day older. The costume designing was comparatively better, and the songs are good enough.
As far as acting is concerned, it was fairly decent, with Kaif and Shroff standing out.
The plot failed the entire movie. The story follows a man from his childhood to his old age. The movie just shows how his life has been, and it has been pretty average, I don’t know why they decided to make a film out of it. The tagline says, The Journey a Man and a Nation Together, but it actually only tells the story of Bharat, the Man and not Bharat, the country. The film has some very humorous moments and the first twenty minutes of the film manage to impress you. Apart from that, nothing else is worth mentioning.
The movie could have been better if its screenplay had been. A complete waste of the potential that this film had.
Rating- 2.5/5 (I gave it 0.5 more because of its capacity and potential).
