So today i had the privilege of watching chup at 75 rs n thank god i didn't spend a dime more. Chup directed by R balki starring Dulwuer Salman,Sunny deol, pooja bhatt and shreya dhanwamtary is about a serial killer who is on a killing spree and his targets are film critics. On the surface of it the films plot is downright engaging and seems thrilling but in reality it's a long bore and not a great crime thriller. Chup tries to use the film within a film technique to transport viewers to an alternative reality but falls flat on its face. Sunny deol as the cop Investing the killings looks genuinely disinterested and mouths lines from the script with a little shouting here n there. Shreya dhanwatary plays a film journalist and Dulwuers love interest and brings a distinctive charm to the screenplay. Pooja bhatt makes an appearance in the second half as a criminal psychologist and delivers a very mundane act nothing new in bollywood. Chup promises on big bucks but delivers too little. The screenplay could have been far more engaging and frankly i was not vested in the story. The major fun in a crime thriller is who the criminal is but chup gives it away even before the interval making the second half a long n unnecessary saga of catch me if you can. The use of guru dutts kaagaz ke phool is used as a metaphor to highlight the killers melancholy and the audience become s a fool in the bargain..the dialogues are filled with cliche writing and almost spoon feeds the audience to the extent where you can almost guess what the characters would be saying next. The music is praiseworthy, and the background score is exceptionally thrilling. Director r balki having deliverer films like paa n cheeni kum tries to steer away from his forte but falls flat on his face. The worst part of the film is that the trailer gives it away n doesn't keep a question of second guessing. Please don't go by the rave reviews as the film has nothing new to offer and is excessive yawnathon. Overall, by the end i just wanted to Shout chup to sunny deol. Bollywood should really come up with better thrillers that r not just style but substance too.

Bambai meri jaan is beautiful. It has a lot of heart and a great storyline. The best part of this series is that it really allows the characters to grow. It does not feel rushed or hurried just for the sake of plot development. The characters are given a lot of dichotomous emotions that they display very well. The gangster world is shown with a lot of detailing and realism and does not feel over powering. Special mention to Kay Kay Menon and Avinash Tiwary for carrying the show on their shoulders. Highly recommend to watch it. It is definitely as good as Mirzapur or Wasseypur or any other gangster plot.

Rocky and Rany is charmingly witty and dangerously on point with the political correctness and climate. I say dangerously because it's hard to find a masala hindi film that checks all boxes of correct messaging, romantic tracks, nostalgic love and yet, manages to remain fresh and relevant. The film is a culmination of cultures and breathtaking cinematography. However, what's most important and interesting is that Rocky and Rani fall for each other and mend each other. They teach each other's families that it's okay to be different and being different doesn't mean that you dont respect the other person.The way the film challenges patriarchy and almost devilishly interesting as it could very easily tread a line of just trying to be socially relevant. However, that is not the case here. Karan Johar's best directorial till date with the right amount of humor, romance and love for hindi cinema. The film is unabashedly bollywood in its entirety. It celebrates love between old and the young alike with the same lens of sensitivity. Rocky and Rani deserve all the love! 💛

Watched ardhangini with maa today. I am spellbound by the acting calibre of Churni and Jaya. They are so good that even a two hours drama where nothing much probably happens in terms of events, leave a lasting impression. The screenplay is tight and the story and subtle nuances of the characters are brilliant. Carefully crafted and understated performances, the film is a visual delight as well as very skilfully raises questions of male ego and the tussle between two women involved with the same man.
