I can’t speak more highly about this film. This is a film about meaning and connection and it takes us full circle: beginning and ending are one. space exploration is about “first contact” but this film reminds us about the importance to value and cherish our “first contacts” with others at home. It shows how quickly we move on to other things we think are important eg our ambitions in life including for space exploration. I’m seeing more and more that great science fiction uses its genre in allegorical ways.
This film made me remember the feelings I had the first time I met my husband, and the wonderful memories I’ve had with other people. I cried and cried about how much rubbish I had let come between me and these wonderful moments, exactly how the Spaceman had.
Rave, rave, rave, rave, rave.
The icing on the cake: the music is sublime by the incredibly talented composer, Max Richter.
