I didn’t listen or even know Adam existed when he first burst onto the music scene years ago. I was too young to notice, I suppose.
Within the last 4-5 years as an adult, I have fallen in love with his music and continue to do so whenever I revisit his albums, most of which I have collected.
All Things Bright and Beautiful has to be my favorite. Every single song is filled with magic, creativity, and a wholesome sense of wonder. I listen to it when I’m in a creative mood, which unfortunately isn’t very often nowadays. Still, I’m so grateful to have discovered this album and the rest of his music. From what I’ve heard, this album was kind of a “flop” when it came out — and I sincerely cannot understand why or how that’s possible. The songs just fill you with childlike curiosity (something that I think is quite lost to the world right now). They take me places in my mind. I dance around like I’m in another world when I hear this album.
Adam is a sensational artist. He’s truly unique and offers such hope and positivity through his music, which is something that, again, I think is lacking in today’s society. And in my opinion, it’s wonderful to see a grown man not losing touch with his inner child and the captivating innocence of the whimsy he creates. He doesn’t follow the crowd and sing about constant sex, drinking, drugs, partying, etc. He truly is an oddity (and that’s all right, according to his sing “Fiji Water”). You can tell he’s not afraid he’ll “lose his masculinity” by singing about his life experiences in a fantastical way. He’s not afraid to stray from the norm, and I admire that greatly.
The sound of his music always conveys deep emotions through happy metaphors. I think we need more of that in music; everything has become so dark and cynical, which unfortunately reflects people’s lives, struggles, and the current state of the world. Then again, if we had too many people like Adam, all that wonder wouldn’t seem so special anymore, I guess.
Overall, I highly recommend this album to the daydreamers out there who like to get lost in their imagination. This album deserves SO much more credit than it has gotten. It is simply a masterpiece.
