Joaquin Phoenix gives the performance of his career! Dark, intense, unsettling and yet oddly satisfying, Joker explores the philosophy and rhetoric of what can happen if someone who’s been down on his/her luck is consistently pushed aside and disregarded by society while also harkening back to films like Psycho, Apocalypse Now, Schindler’s List, Passion of the Christ, Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy. Joker also taps into the flaws of the system and its virtues in such a compelling way that its relevance far exceeds its controversy. Joker was specifically tailor made for such a time as this.
