From the beginning with loot crates, special editions, jerky gameplay, and an overall pay to play experience that was sadly all about money, this game deserves every bit of a bad rap as has been received. Server Lag issues, target box issues, overpowered heroes and villains, this game has miles to go in terms of a joyful playing experience.
Apart from its fantastic scenery and visual imagery, you wonder if DICE did any background on Star Wars at all. The absence of Lightsaber for Emperor Palpatine or even a whiff of his Insane Darkside powers, is a good example. The same can be said for Master Yoda, who's legendary Lightsaber Abilities are a No Show. And don't get me started on "Stamina".... Each player has a "Stamina" reading. Once you've exhausted your Stamina, your open season for getting blasted. That's a Red flag for LAME.
Ok, so that's a little about the Heroes and Villains side of the game, which for me was a huge part of why I was interested in the first place.
All of the Game Modes excluding the Story Mode, start you out as One of Four Classes of Trooper or Droid. Each Class has Four Weapons to unlock along with Upgrades to the Weapons to assist with Stability, Range, Firing Speed, Secondary Firing, Cooling, etc. Each Class has a Weapon designed for specific capabilities like Exploding Rounds, Thermal Vision, Rapid Fire, etc. They're usually specific to the Class of Infantry. What crazy about this is the idea of Racking up enough "Kills" to Upgrade these Weapons. There are Three available Upgrades to each weapon. Each Upgrade comes at a cost of 75, 150, and 200 kills. Most players new to the game will have difficulty obtaining 5 solo kills in any given round of action, so the hours spent on gameplay is taxing for those who want to achieve Maximized Weaponry. For me, that's a lot of time spent that could've gone to other aspects of the game.
Lastly, there's the "Nerfing" and "Buffing" all across the board that is out of wack. Overpowered and Underpowered Infantry, Heroes, and Vehicles, make for Regrettable spending of Game Points on Heroes during Galactic Assault Modes.
There it is, my take on Star Wars Battlefront 2. It was available Free through Playstation Plus and XBOX just a few months ago and while that had peaked some interest in resurrection of this sad title, it's been quickly forgotten yet again. Thanks for the a memories DICE.
