FIFA 23 lacks care and considerable development and unfortunately falls into the faults of many of its previous titles. Like previous titles, it prides itself on trying to make the game realistic. However, when experiencing this awful excuse of realism, you come to find it lacks in any sort of nuance and falls flat on its great ambitions.
Although the ambition can be seen in some instances with the graphics and the move to better software throughout the years, you still find yourself scratching your head at the endless instances during playing where this realism goes out the window.
Can you imagine a 38 year old Ronaldo doing a bicycle kick? Well, here you can!
A random player managing to score a goal from the half way line with his first touch of the ball? Youpi! You've got it!
And not to mention each encounter offline or online when playing feels scripted.
For example, let's talk about a few things that me and a friend of mine have encountered when playing co-op seasons:
For starters, can you imagine the end of a football match finishing in the penalty box of your opposing team? I definitely can't but here, it's very much possible.
Also, for some odd reason the games input is and has always been awful. Did you want to pass the ball to your teammate that is clearly in front of you? Oh well, no worries we'll pass it somewhere else.
Also, don't rely on trying to tackle your opposing player, when you go in for a tackle on a player he can miraculously recover in the blink of an eye or fail to get up for the next 5 minutes.
Thanks again for another instalment of FIFA that ultimately fails to deliver on its ambitions and goals.
Let's hope EA FC 24 is better but considering it's yearly development cycle, I and many others don't think that'll be the case.
