Honestly I'm disappointed in the overall combat system and story line of this game. I thought it would be fun and thrilling to play my first game on hard mode on the get go, sadly it did not make things interesting. The combat is too simply for my likes as do hold the stick left and right to dodge was frustratingly simple. All boss fights consisted of holding the left stick back left and right and then firing at them. I just didn't feel rewarded with the combat.
My favorite part of the game was midway where the enemies were blind and stealthing them was fun at first. Until I could kill one infront of a whole crowd and not raise any alarms from them. I literally just felt like I was cheesing the game at that point.
Then you have your side story adventures I suppose by going off the main path to find extra loot or hopes of a reward. The frustrating part about this is I could never tell which way was leading me further in the story or a extra area to explore. Thus on my one play through I was forced to skip a good portion of these branch offs, as I could not got back due to cut scenes or the door locking behind me immediately. Its was frustrating and a let down that I would have to reload a auto save to explore these areas.
Lastly the ending of this game was a major let down. After reaching the final boss, the combat became a major let down. His pattern was too simple to be exciting, simply put enough rounds in him and win.
Then after defeating the final boss your left with a major cliff hanger, one where I feel more let down than excited. It felt like a slap in the face having your character sacrifice himself looking like your story is over and then be told "but wait there's more" on what I can assume comes with the dlc release.
Overall I feel very disappointed with this game as I completed it with in 9hrs and 34min on hard mode. I honestly tried to do as much extra game play on the side as I possibly could but felt let down with the overall end result. I can say forsure that it was fun to play, sadly it holds no replay value for me as honestly only 3 jump scares got me on edge and the anticipation of something happening further was what I desired.
In my opinion I feel it's best to wait a while till this game goes on sale to play it for its not worth $100 for the full game.
