A searing, haunting film of great power that rips the bandage off the entertainment industry, exposing the ugliness of the casting couch and the using of women in the worst possible way, whilst crushing their dreams and their spirit. It is also about innocence and how appearances of innocence can fool us. It should have been nominated for Best Picture, as it was the most riveting film I have seen in years, and the most meaningful. The scene with the achingly beautiful rendition of Downtown alone should have been the catalyst towards that nomination.
