I waited ten years from reading this book series to seeing on iMDb that Peter Jackson had bought the movie rights. I believe that Weta studios is the real hero here. Visually, I couldn't ask for much more, but unfortunately the core aspects of movie making (storytelling, pacing, character development, believable dialogue) fell pretty flat. Still going to see this again, and possibly again!

They're in France and the VAs have Britiah accents. Let's find some French native speaker VAs who speak English. Honestly sick of this in all media, especially in cinema and live action shows. I can't possibly imagine a logical explanation as to why voice actors and screen actors can't be cast with culturally or linguistically relevant backgrounds when appropriate. Not every European person (from a US perspective) is British. Take a note from Captain Fall (although that show was not great either imo). I love hearing French, German, and Scandinavian accents in English. I wish I could name more, but there are so few examples in popular media that I can't differentiate between as many as I should.
