I love things that have this kind of premise! I was excited, hoping for Bloodlines, or Broadchurch. Such a disappointment. It feels like AI watched a bunch of family drama thrillers and spit out a generalized mash-up of all of them. The characters are cartoony, the setting and look feels like a high-end real estate show and the police investigation seems like it's straight out of Reno 911! If it's meant to be campy, it's not campy enough, if it's meant to be serious it's not grounded enough. And please, can we stop making actresses think that they can't age! I don't blame the women for their choices, but we have to start loving the way we all look at every age, cause there is some serious uncanny valley going on here. Too bad

What a beautiful, inspiring, rich, heartbreaking movie. Subtle and gorgeous. Every moment is brimming with something happening under the surface. No moment in this movie is wasted. Very different, but similar in it's deep emotion and restrained drama to Remains of the Day. If you want car chases, you've come to the wrong place, but if you want the kind of tension and drama that only happens when people have deep passions and strong feelings but they are constrained by codes of conduct, then this is for you. Anyone can have a screaming fit, or tell you everything they're feeling, but there's nothing like the tension of watching people who are desperate to communicate, but must stay silent. So touching.
