I couldn't help but compare this to the original 2009 Argentinian version and this remake is a dud by comparison. Watch the original -- it's one of the best thrillers/mystery films ever made. Especially as it takes place during the fascist overthrow of Argentina at the time of the crime. Lots of atmosphere, layers and nuances that this film just doesn't have. Ricardo Darin and Soledad Villamil are incredible in the original.

The best film noir ever made, maybe the best film ever made. Greer is perfection as Kathie Moffat. Mitchum, Douglas, Valentine are all wonderful. I watch this film frequently and it gets better every time.

Classic Fritz Lang noir, with great performances by Robinson, Bennett and Duryea. I actually prefer this movie to Scarlett Street which the three of them and Lang did after this one. Great plot with superior suspense and humor.

Highly recommend this movie, based on a chapter from the book Team of Rivals. The acting is superb --Daniel Day-Lewis, David Strathairn, Sally Fields and Tommy Lee Jones are especially good in an all-around exceptional cast.The direction and the recreation of the time period are top notch. It's also a great history lesson and an intriguing look at Abraham Lincoln, who I find to be one of the most fascinating people who ever lived.This shows him as a man who is first and foremost a politician and not the plaster saint that many people think of him as -- or the demon that others see. He was a man born into poverty who, mostly self-educated, used determination, intellect, force of will, and not a little deceit and guile to preside over the most tumultuous time in American history. I've watched this movie many times and find new things to enjoy every time.
