Got a hour and a half in (felt like 3 hours and still not even at the half way mark) and wow this was not what I expected. I wasn't alive during Marilyn's time, but everything about this seems utterly humiliating as far as her legacy goes. Super demeaning, dark, disturbing, exploitative, unnecessary sexual scenes (including assault scenes), choppy scene cuts, hard to follow storyline and the way Marilyn was portrayed made me feel like she must have been an airhead, which anyone who has done research on Marilyn knows is quite the opposite to her intelligence.
Ana absolutely was able to capture the physical aspects of Marilyn, in some scenes the resemblence is uncanny, but that's literally all this movie has going for it. 10 years to make this? Lmao. I didn't expect much considering this is a reimagining of fiction but I thought it would at least be entertaining and somewhat empowering. The woman endured so much, it's like digging her up and spitting in her grave. Trash.
