Honestly, this movie was downright boring. I kept waiting for it to get good but it never did… The preview looked amazing, and the plot had a lot of potential, but it failed to deliver. There was nothing scary, the characters were completely undeveloped by the lack of any back story, and nothing was really explained throughout the entire movie. It’s a couple hours of a boy in a basement receiving calls on an unplugged phone from other dead kids. The kids give him advice on how to escape so even those phone calls aren’t scary or interesting. Can we get some sort of explanation for how the calls are happening rather than leaving it to interpretation? Why is the phone even there in a basement with nothing else but a dirty mattress? The Grabber doesn’t really do much other than throw Finney some food and sit shirtless in a chair. I’d be interested to see how many words he actually said in the movie. The line I enjoyed most from the preview is when The Grabber yells out “hang up the phone!” That wasn’t even in the movie. Overall, this movie had a lot of potential, but it just fell flat.
