As a gamer with 500+ games in my library, it is with no small nod that I say "Days Gone" has one of the most fluid storylines I have ever played. It just flows. Each event that happens in-game becomes its own quest and/or progress in your story. Chapters don't feel like chapters, storylines branch as events unfold and then come to clean and clear resolutions. Your past and present are told through interactions with characters (and objects) that have value and meaning, not only to the story, but to the community in which they reside. Locations matter, what you 'clear out' matters, your awareness of surroundings and how much fuel you have - matters. Immersion is a lost art that graces "Days Gone" often and with great depth. While some of the dialogue can be predictable, it's done with a charm that doesn't subtract from the value it was intended, nor does it shame from the hat tips "Days Gone" makes to other titles (video games, movies and shows) in the genre. Overall an enjoyable game to play, but even moreso a gorgeous story to be a part of.
