I’m not normally this dramatic, but this was genuinely one of the worst films I’ve ever seen. The iconic Catholic presence of the movie was completely destroyed and trampled on. They tried to incorporate all different faiths and forms of “modern spirituality”, which is incredibly disorienting/messy and doesn’t allow attachment to characters. When the Catholic Priest finally comes in (SPOILER ALERT), he is killed off almost right away. So disappointing considering the main point of the previous films to be a Priest or Priests which is the whole point of the title “exorcist.” There was one or two themes that were clever and the cinematography was great, but it shouldn’t be classified as an exorcist franchise movie whatsoever. I do not recommend this.
