It's got a messy streak to it in terms of its ambition and its scope which translates to the realism that comes with adolescence. However, it tends to teeter between stark realism and crass caricature. The cast does a great job with trying to elevate what is honestly very salacious and melodramatic writing and the core does display a very human element to it. Not to mention, half the characters are kind of hard to root for because they go to that "caricature"-like extreme. I just feel like the show has a slight identity crisis when it comes to its execution, but I feel there is potential for the writing staff to really make a statement on Gen Z adolescence.
