Watched this movie with my husband last night and ended up sitting back and rolling my eyes about halfway through. It wasn’t a movie. It was a fake argument against onesself in front of a mirror turned into a production: wrought with straw-man arguments to boost the demon’s “side” of things without there being any actual conversation or thought-provoking challenges to any true beliefs. It’s the Hollywood version of a conservative podcast using another Christian to argue for Atheist beliefs.
Director obviously doesn’t understand Atheist viewpoints or, if they did, blatantly ignored them to push the agenda.
Not only that, but the push for the demon saying, in essence ‘works in mysterious ways’ in everything and refusing to expand on a subject, only to be pushed to do so and saying the most bland and baseline understood concept in Christianity while framing it as some “grand revelation” is silly at best, insulting at worst. This is thought provoking to people who already believe and work themselves into a fear the movie is incapable of providing on its own. I do not recommend it except as an example of what not to do.
