Rowena Ching

I absolutely love this drama series. I’ve watched a lot of western, Japanese and Korean TV series and this is the first Taiwanese series for me. Surprised to see such high standard of production. Excellent casting. Superb acting. Knowing that the story concerns female characters in the setting of red-light district, I had worried about seeing the usual déjà-vu scenes of jealousy and competition amongst females that are not nice to look at. But to my pleasant surprise, the script writer and director handled the tensions and conflicts in the characters very well. The story, or rather the many stories about the characters, are told in a way that keeps the audience feeling intrigued and at the same time learning about and enjoying the ambience of Taiwan in the 1980’s.
