A hidden gem of English Literature. This is, in my opinion, one of the all time greats. Delderfield has a way of making you connect to every character, feel their journey and emotions. The length of period this book takes place over, an already interesting time in British history, really allows you to see how David, and Bamfylde, change and develop. Heartwarming, brilliantly written, just great!
