This movie was EXTREMELY cringey. One star is generous for how terrible this movie is. The acting in this movie is just the absolute worst. Nia Long probably did the best job out of them all but even her acting in this movie was trash. It was horribly stereotypical and SO degrading against Black people and women/single moms in general. There were sooooo many outrageous and unrealistic scenarios in this movie, for ex: when Nia Long's son went missing, they just all left their kids with Amy Smart's new neighbor whom no one really even knows? Get the heck out of here *insert eye roll*. Tyler Perry should be ashamed of this movie. Please do yourself a favor and skip this one! Smdh.

I first discovered Michelle Buteau on First Wives Club, the tv series. Her character really stood out to me - as she was hilarious and was a whole vibe. When I saw that she was also in this show, I definitely wanted to check it out. I'm happy to discover that her character in this show was also similar to the one that she played in FWC. After reading some of the reviews about racism, I did not get that from this show. Yes, there were a few scenes that portrayed racism (like the one where Khalil was spraypainting the mural) but that's just a realistic glimpse of the racism Black people face in America on a daily. If you think otherwise, you should open your eyes. I will say I didn't care for the hospital scene - I did think that what Marley did was over the top and unnecessary. The point that the writers were trying to get across, could have been manifested better. I think that the characters all did a wonderful job acting and bringing this show together. All in all, this show was a lot better than I thought it would be. I really enjoyed watching it and hope that there is a season 2 coming soon.
