This movie is based on the book Into the Forest by Jean Hegland. Which is a novel written in the late 90’s. Hence the decisions made by the sisters are mostly for literally appeal. The movie leaves out a few (rather disturbing) details, and in this case that’s a good thing. Did I mention there were supposed to be bears in the stump? If you want to roll your eyes even harder at this dramatic duo - read the book.
