This movie is NOTHING LIKE THE BOOKS!! None of the same rules apply, all the events are incorrect, and there are too many plot points thrown in for no reason. Virtually none of the characters look the way they are described in the books. They should've have made this into an original series instead of a movie, maybe then it would have the chance to build the story properly.
