I’m actually really surprised at the amount of hate this game has received, but I realize a lot of those reviews are coming from a place of homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia. I loved the first game, and I loved this one even more. A lot of people expected this to be another game of Ellie and Joel traveling and fighting together, which also could be a reason for the undeserved hate. The story is absolutely captivating, and there are times you’ll feel sad, angry, relieved, and anxious while playing. Some may not agree with the direction they took the story, but I actually really liked it. The introduction of new characters and a new storyline really drives the point home that sometimes, the good guys and the bad guys and the good and evil are gray, not black and white. The gameplay was fantastic and the graphics, voice acting, and visuals were stunning. Don’t listen to all the hate and give this game a shot, it will captivate you, challenge you, and make you feel, which is what a video game is supposed to do.
