There are few actors that I love so much, I’ll watch anything they’re in without knowledge of what it’s about. Aubrey Plaza is one of those actors. I streamed this without watching the trailer or reading the summary, but I’m crying as I write this.
I lost someone that I loved immensely and I’ve gone through every emotion- a lot of hurting, denial, devastation, outrage, regret. This film was an unexpected reminder that I shouldn’t regret loving someone who left too soon; I should be grateful for the time we had, the memories, and experiences together. I shouldn’t allow the fear of death hinder my ability to love again.
The acting, the plot, the accurate emotions as an 18 year old and a 39 year old are spot on. Every actor was phenomenal in this! It’s been a long time since I’ve felt like this after picking a random film- the kind of feeling that rejuvenates your soul. I can’t think of any negative aspects of this movie beyond wishing to know how the future plays out.
*Edit: to the few reviews that were negative, especially the one claiming the teenagers were pointless to the story- this is a coming of age movie where the friendships and interactions were realistic and helped build the story and personality of the main character. I’m sorry that you didn’t get to experience carefree, loving, goofy, supportive friendships like that growing up.
Unfortunately, there will always be people who despise a film/show based solely on their own personal beliefs (hatred) and insecurities. I know that anything besides a straight, white person, is very scary for you. Nobody cares and you should get over it already.
