It's quite deceptive that someone, completely removed from a specific community and writing purely from imagination without any research, concluded that for some people, death might be a better option. I don't think she could have written with a genuine understanding of Jude.
Everything is unrealistic, and the characters are flat. Their relationships lack credibility. They are either people who blindly love Jude or those who blindly torment him. The only somewhat three-dimensional character is JB.
Everything is exaggerated, and the repetition of misery leaves you feeling numb eventually. You turn the pages only out of curiosity about how it ends.
It has more literary merit than many ordinary fanfictions about a beautiful boy being abused, but not much beyond that.
And why does the author love making lists so much? This is a long book. Stop listing things and move the story forward.
