This show is a waste of an hour! It is embarrassing and a total failure.

Sara Lancashire is simply incredible playing this part, she is amazing. The whole series is spectacular and deserves every award.

I think this show is a very welcome change from the dramas we have recently been subjected to. The scenery and acting truly mesh together, the entire cast led by Jamie Dorman are excellent. Jamie for 007!

I watched this show for one reason and that was Christopher Eccleston, I cannot really say I enjoyed the story. The characters were fragmented and I could not sympathise with Jo, she truly is in a state and quite out of control. The husband turned out to be the usual betrayer with a baby being carried by his par amour. No, sorry I would not watch this again but would like to see the two lead actor together in something else.

This show runs quite closely to the book which I am pleased to have read before viewing this TV portrayal. It is a dark story which has many characters but all becomes clear as the story unfolds. The second book in this series does continue on from The Long Call and so the stories are at saga, as is Shetland. Matthew is a dour man due to his miserable childhood and the people around him all under the spell of the horrendous preacher, played by Martin Shaw. I am enjoying this TV series but repeat that having read the book makes everything clearer.

This drama is simply awful, I do not want to see Joanna Frogett playing another character of this type again. She looks depressed when not even acting! No more of Angela Black.

Having looked forward to vigil, I can only say that it is disappointing and even the excellent cast cannot save it. Very confusing, the characters do not seem to connect with each other. Will continue to the end but not be watching again.
